Description
Cutter Oyster is an award-winning game designer and developer based in Athens, GA. He specializes in designing white-knuckle FPS action, and creating nostalgic PSX-era aesthetics. Inspired by modern and classic FPS games alike, he aims to innovate within the genre while also paying homage to those who came before him.
History
Early HistoryCutter Oyster's long standing passion for creating video games spawned from a desire to put his amateurish illustrations into motion at age 13. Eight years after first opening RPG Maker MV, he now works primarily on 3D games in the Godot engine (specifically punchy and stylish boomer shooters). Working primarily as a solo developer, he's had to develop skills in game design, 3D art/animation, programming, and more. He now works day in and day out in pursuit of turning his passion into a career.
Recent History and NowCutter is currently developing his first commercial game, Venison County (a boomer shooter about Appalachian occultism, half-deer, half-man hybrids, and explosions). Thanks to a custom OST made by his best friend since grade school, John Carter Wilson, and illustrations by his girlfriend of 6 years, Carlyle Skelton, Venison County has transformed from dream to reality. The game has been played by hundreds at over a half dozen gaming expos, and even won the DreamHack 2026 Audience Choice awards 1st place prize. Venison County is on track to be released in 2027, and will hopefully be a well-received first entry to his fledgling catalogue of games.
